17 Best Vegetables to Grow Vertically

Short on space for a garden? Try these vegetables that are more compact since they’ll be growing up, not out.

Japanese White Egg Eggplants

I’ve been looking at new things to plant and came across Japanese white egg eggplants. The eggplants actually look like eggs! I ordered some seeds for next spring here: https://www.rareseeds.com/japanese-white-egg-eggplant. If you’re curious what they look and taste like and information on growing them, check out this link: https://moderndaymori.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-japanese-white-egg-eggplant/, and for some information on white eggplants in general (there are several different kinds) including nutritional information and the difference between white and purple eggplants, go here: https://www.recipedev.com/white-eggplant/.

New Enzyme That Will Break Down Plastic in a Week

Here’s a couple of interesting articles on an enzyme that can break down plastic in a week instead of centuries. This allows the plastic to continue to be recycled past the point when plastic is usually not recyclable any more. A Lesson Learned about Vinegar, Baking Soda, and Laundry

We have a really old cat that doesn’t always know where the litter box is. Gross, I know, but I also know I’m not the only one that has had to deal with this situation. So today we had some smelly laundry to take care of, and normally I use white vinegar and laundry detergent. My son looked up some tips online and said he found to use vinegar and baking soda in the first wash and laundry detergent in the second. Sounded reasonable to me, but I decided to dig a little deeper and discovered we were both wrong. Vinegar is acidic, while baking soda and detergent are both bases. If you combine vinegar with either one, the acid of the vinegar cancels out the base and you end up with a solution that doesn’t do any cleaning. What you should do is use vinegar on its own, either in a separate wash or in the rinse cycle. You can then add the baking soda to the detergent since both are bases and won’t cancel each other out. By the way, both vinegar and baking soda are all natural and won’t damage your clothing or the environment. Here’s an article on using vinegar and baking soda in laundry: https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/home-and-garden/how-to-use-baking-soda-and-vinegar-in-your-laundry/ar-BB19vKtk.
