Hippie Dabble Digest 69: Substack Note, Always Judge a Book by its Cover, The Cannabis Question, environmental news, raspberry recipes, raspberry info, & more!

Welcome to the 69th Hippie Dabble Digest! I’m still working on getting products onto the website. Some of it doesn’t have pictures yet, but you can take a look at the new stuff in the Shop here: https://hippiedabble.com/shop/ and keep checking back!  I’m also still working on getting that bird feeder camera set up. It’s not as straightforward as I thought it was going to be. Our next in person event is the Casper Holistic Expo in Casper, Wyoming, September 9th and 10th.

In the last three Digests I have started you on a journey of the edible plants in my garden. Check out the daylily information here: https://hippiedabble.com/hippie-dabble-digest-68-maze-toys-8-japanese-habits-environmental-news-daylily-recipes-information-exercise-the-aging-brain-more/;

all the lovage here: https://hippiedabble.com/hippie-dabble-digest-66-ambicular-mini-habits-environmental-news-lovage-lemon-roasted-chicken-lots-of-lovage-summer-health-tips-more/;

This week it’s raspberries. There’s lots of information below. Throughout the rest of the summer, in each Hippie Dabble Digest I will feature one edible plant that I have growing in my own garden., including a recipe, lots of information, and where to buy. I’ve been aiming for once a week, but life’s been busy. That’s still the goal though.

One other important note: I have decided to put this newsletter back onto Substack to increase its reach. If you find you are getting the newsletter through both Substack and MailPoet (from the website), feel free to pick which platform you would like to receive from and unsubscribe from the other. I apologize for the added step!

*All of the links provided in every Digest and on the Directory are not currently sponsored links. I don’t get a single cent when you click on them. I do the Hippie Dabble Digest and the Directory because I love finding and sharing this information. Maybe some day I’ll get paid for it, but for now, I just love doing it.

Insight: World’s war on greenhouse gas emissions has a military blind spot (Reuters)

“When it comes to taking stock of global emissions, there’s an elephant in the room: the world’s armed forces. As temperatures hit new highs, scientists and environmental groups are stepping up pressure on the U.N. to force armies to disclose all their emissions and end a long-standing exemption that has kept some of their climate pollution off the books.” Read more here: https://www.reuters.com/business/environment/worlds-war-greenhouse-gas-emissions-has-military-blind-spot-2023-07-10/.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s climate agenda highlights tensions with environmental groups (KSBY 6)

“In the rush to cut California’s pollution and rid the state of fossil fuels, the most intriguing confrontation hasn’t involved business leaders or the oil industry. Instead, it’s simmering tensions between the state’s robust environmental advocacy wing and California’s progressive governor who considers himself one of their own.” Read more here: https://www.ksby.com/news/california-news/california-gov-gavin-newsoms-climate-agenda-highlights-tensions-with-environmental-groups.
