Forever Chemical Pollution Can Now Be Tracked (Environmental News Network)

“Organofluorine compounds — sometimes called ‘forever chemicals’ — are increasingly turning up in our drinking water, oceans and even human blood, posing a potential threat to the environment and human health.

Now, researchers at The University of Texas at Austin have developed a way to fingerprint them, which could help authorities trace them to their source when they end up in aquifers, waterways or soil.” Article dated August 12, 2024, read more here: Forever Chemical Pollution.

Canadian Cod; Environmental Success Story (Happy Eco News)

“In a remarkable environmental success story that underscores the power of conservation efforts and environmental stewardship, Canada’s cod fishery has reopened after a 32-year hiatus. Parmesan Roasted Zucchini (Last Ingredient)

“For this easy parmesan roasted zucchini recipe, I toss sliced zucchini in a mix of olive oil and seasonings. Then I sprinkle them with grated Parmesan before roasting them in the oven until they turn light golden brown. This is one of those side dish recipes that you should have on repeat because it goes with so many other things.”  Screenshots below.  You can find the recipe by clicking on the title or any of the screenshots below.

In the Garden

Lilies

Lilies are my new garden obsession!  They are beautiful and fun to watch grow because it looks like they start all bunched up and then unbunch as they grow upward.  They remind me of whirly tubes, those tubes that stretch out and whistle when you twirl them.  Here are some articles on types and growing lilies.  The screenshot is taken from the Old Farmer’s Almanac article on How to Grow Lilies below.

How to grow lilies (Gardener’s World)

How to Grow Lilies: The Complete Lily Flower Guide (Old Farmer’s Almanac)

While lilies are beautiful and fun to grow, they are toxic to pets, so be sure to grow them in an area where your pets don’t roam.  Here are a couple of links to see what other plants are toxic to your pets.

Here are a few places to buy lilies for planting. I get all of mine from Breck’s (the first link).
